Most upholstery fabrics are made for rooms that look lived in. This one is made for rooms that are lived in. Stainguard upholstery is a heavy-duty, basket weave textile engineered from the ground up for demanding environments — the kind where appearance must hold up under daily use, spillage, abrasion, and time.
At 450gsm and woven in 100% polyester with a distinctive interlaced basket weave structure, it carries the visual weight and tactile authority of a premium textile while delivering performance that softer upholstery fabrics simply cannot match. Whether it is covering a sofa in a family home or seating in a high-footfall commercial space, Stainguard is the correct specification.
- Composition: 100% polyester
- Weight: 450gsm — substantial enough for tight upholstery work without excessive bulk at seams
- Width: 142cm — generous cutting width reduces wastage across standard furniture profiles
- Martindale abrasion rating: 30,000 rubs — suitable for heavy domestic and commercial contract use
- Stainguard finish: liquid-repellent surface treatment; blot spills promptly, clean with mild detergent and damp cloth
- Basket weave has a distinct pattern direction — cut all panels consistently to avoid tonal variation across seams
- Use an upholstery needle (size 16–18) and heavy-duty thread; a walking foot is recommended for consistent tension
- Sold by the metre — calculate generously for pattern-matching across cushion panels and seat backs

How do I know the fabric is colour is accurate?
